Christmas Tree Project
Can I
organize a specific day and time for my tree to be
delivered?
No. However 98% of deliveries to addresses east of the Melbourne
CBD will be delivered between 8am and 2pm on Sat 3th December and
98% of deliveries to addresses west of the CBD will arrive between
8am and 2pm on Sunday 4th December. Don’t be concerned if you're
not at home, we’ll leave the tree in a safe place or follow any
direction you write with your order e.g. ”leave with Nancy next
door at No.36 as we’ll be away for the weekend”. It you plan to be
out for a few hours just leave a bucket of water in the shade and
the volunteer driver will place the tree in the bucket.
Can I pay COD when the tree is delivered?
No. Our volunteer drivers only deliver trees that are ordered and
paid for prior to delivery and cannot collect money on the
day.
What if I’m not happy with my tree?
We offer you a well shaped, green, freshly cut, specially grown
pine Christmas tree approximately 1.75 m. high (between 1.5 m and
2.1 m.) If this is not what you get you will be offered a
replacement tree or a full refund.
I want our tree delivered to the office but it is not open at
the weekend.
This is a difficult one. Maybe we could deliver the tree to the
home of one of the employees who has roof racks or a station wagon
and could bring the tree to work on the Monday. Maybe there is a
neighbouring business that trades during the weekend and you could
organize for the tree to be left there until you collect it on
Monday. Maybe we could drop it over a side/back fence.
I don’t have a credit card or I don’t like giving my card
details over the Internet or the telephone.
You could print
the Order Form and then send it with a cheque/money order
payable to “Oxfam Christmas Xmas Trees” to 132 Leicester Street.,
Carlton. 3053 to arrive by Wed 30th November 2011, or
alternatively fax it to us with your credit card details to 9347
1983
According
to our secure server provider, these days there is no technical
reason why your credit card information shouldn't be secure but a
lot still depends on the management systems the merchant uses. For
example there is absolutely no point in using a SSL secure server
to collect credit card details if you then later on post it over
the Internet using unsecured e-mail.
How will my privacy be respected?
Any details you give us will be guarded with the utmost care. Your
details will not be on sold and you will receive no contact from
Oxfam Australia apart from the offer to purchase a Christmas tree
next year. At any stage you can be removed from this mailing list
by phoning 1800 088 110 or indicate with your order that you don’t
want to be on any future mailing list.
How much of my $69.00 actually gets to Oxfam Australia?
This whole project is organized by volunteers who are committed to
creating a fairer world. No wages are paid. All the trees are
delivered by volunteers and most are from Melbourne 4WD Clubs who
donate the not only the use of their vehicle but the fuel as well.
Melway have
donated directories in past years to ease delivery. The E Team has generously
have donated their time to set up and manage this web site using Web Alive
software. The only significant cost is the cost of
the tree itself leaving about $45 of your $69 to go directly to
Oxfam Australia If we sell 3200 trees that’s about $128,000
for long term solutions for people in Australia and overseas
suffering poverty and social injustice. (GST has to be paid on all
purchases)
What projects will the money raised from this activity
help?
See 'Where the
$ Go'.
How can I help?
Encourage your colleagues, neighbours, friends and family to buy a
tree. Many buyers buy more than one tree as Christmas presents for
others.
Send an e-mail around your office and direct people to this web
site.
Or send us an e-mail if you have roof racks or a trailer and would
like to help with deliveries from Saturday 4th out of our Blackburn
depot, sunday 5th from our North Carlton Depot or Tuesday 7th
December from Ivanhoe depot. Or maybe you would like to help with
the processing leading up to the 4th December.
We are
in a multi storyapartment and not sure if we will be home and
there is nowhere to leave the tree if we are not
home.
Please
inform one or two or your neighbours about delivery, give
us their unit number(s) in the special instructions box and they
maybe able to help get the tree past the security entrance and the
driver will leave the tree against your front door or with the
neighbour who let the driver in. The driver will make every effort
to contact you if you include you mobile number but this does
assume that the volunteer driver will have a mobile phone with him.
